Is there a hotel block?
Yes. Our discounted wedding hotel block is at the Harrah's River Valley Casino. You'll be able take advantage of the free shuttle service we are offering to and from our wedding venue which is 25 minutes away.
Is transportation provided to the venue?
Yes. The shuttle will provide round-trip service to and from the venue and the hotel on Friday for the Welcome Party and Saturday, the day of the wedding. For more information on shuttle schedule, please click on the "Travel / Shuttle" tab!
Where is the meeting spot for the free shuttle?
The meeting spot for the shuttle to the venue will be the Harrah's River Valley Casino hotel parking lot, right outside the front doors. If you are not staying at the hotel, you are encouraged to take the shuttle as well. You can drive or uber to the Casino to get on the shuttle. This option is highly recommended as parking at the venue is very limited and requires the ability to drive up and down mountainous roads in the dark. Drunk driving will not be permitted, so again, we encourage everyone to take the shuttle.
Will the venue be Uber Friendly?
No. There are not many Uber drivers in Andrews, NC, especially late at night. We highly recommend taking the shuttle or making other arrangements prior to Friday or Saturday evening to return to your accommodations.
Is parking allowed at the wedding venue?
Yes. There is a parking lot for guests to park. However, we kindly request that the lot be primarily reserved for vendors and local guests who will not be using hotel accommodations. To get to the venue, you should be confident in your ability to drive up and down mountainous roads. Keep in mind it will be dark when you leave. No drunk drivers will be permitted to leave the venue. Again, we strongly recommend taking the free shuttle.
Will my dietary restrictions and preferences be accommodated for the dinner?
Yes. Please be sure you have answered the questions on our invitation to let us know.
Is there a dress code?
Elevated Casual is preferred for the Friday Night Welcome Party. Formal attire is preferred for the wedding. However, we want our guests to dress in a way that they feel most comfortable, so use your best judgement. Please keep a close eye on North Carolina weather. The mountain weather can be unpredictable, and the temperature often drops quickly after sundown. There are many hills and gravel, so please wear appropriate footwear as well. We don't want any injuries!
Can I bring a plus one?
We have full confidence your plus one is a fantastic person! However, unless your invitation included a plus one, we cannot accommodate others because the venue has a limited number of attendees, and we are maxed out.
What is Field Day?
Join us Friday from 1-4 pm on Hawksdene property for a relaxed Field Day of lawn games, sunshine, and easygoing fun as we kick off the wedding weekend together. Dress in active wear and get ready to play some games! We will not have a shuttle service for this event, so please plan travel accordingly if you choose to return to your hotel before the Welcome Party Dinner (6 pm).
Will there be an open bar on the Wedding Night?
Yes. The drinks are on us, and the hangover is on you! If you are not taking the shuttle back to the hotel, please arrange transportation from the venue if you plan on drinking.
Can I bring my kids?
While we love your little ones, this is strictly an adults-only occasion. We encourage you to use this night as a date night.
Will the ceremony take place outdoors?
Yes. Weather permitting. The events leading up and the wedding ceremony are planned to take place outdoors. The wedding cocktail hour and reception are planned for a mixture of indoors/outdoors. We will switch all events to indoors that day if we need to. May in North Carolina is typically gorgeous. However, mountain weather can be unpredictable. Please make sure to check the weather and be prepared for any temperature and condition. This time of year, the weather can run from 80 degrees to 40 degrees, and occasionally even rain or snow!
Field Day and Welcome Party are on a Friday, correct?
Yes. That is correct. We realize that typically requires some time to be taken off work, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who made accommodations to spend the weekend to celebrate with us.
